Evolution of the Console

Over the years, children and young adults have spent numerous amounts of hours behind a hand held controller. It first started with a basic joystick and two buttons and now these controllers contain multiple buttons and built in rumble to simulate what is being played. What has this led to? No, not parents arguing a countless amount of times of how much their children spend playing video games, but rather a significant amount of innovation which has led to the evolution of gaming consoles. XBOX360 has plans to launch a new revolutionary way of playing a video game with absolutely no controller.

Project Natal enables the user to interact and control the system through a natural user interface using spoken commands and physical movements. Software technology was developed internally by Microsoft. It enables advanced gesture, voice, and facial recognition.

This is great news for current XBOX360 owners as it will potentially extend the use of the console before a new one launches. Vice President of Microsoft Shane Kim reaffirmed that the life cycle of the XBOX360 will last through 2015.
